It’s My Story: What advice would you give to our readers today, to ladies who want to prevail and break ceilings in a world that wants to cage women? What are the golden nuggets that she can go away with that will instill in her the courage and boldness needed to prevail?

Dr Nunoo: I’ve said quite a lot in the preceding paragraphs so ill try to break it down into a few small take-home nuggets:

  1. Know God’s will for your life and be confident in it.  Write down what He has said concerning your life.
  2. Hold onto these promises, especially during the difficult times.  They help you to focus and tune out the negative noise.
  3. Do not be afraid to be different.  As women we are taught to be seen and not heard but we must be seen and heard if we are going to make a difference.
  4. Have at least one person, who you trust, that can hold you accountable.  You must be able to talk to them unashamedly and be able to trust their honest, godly counsel.
  5. As quickly as you fall, pick yourself up.  Do not be too hard on yourself when you do not get things right.  Do not wallow in self-pity.  Do not be afraid to make mistakes.
  6. Armed with the will of God covering you go out in the confidence that, no matter what storms, setbacks, challenges, hurdles etc. that EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT FOR MY GOOD.  I say this with confidence as a woman who has been through a lot: I have seen my family torn apart, I have experienced rejection on many levels, I’ve been mocked for what I stand for, I’ve watched my much-longed for daughter die and so much more but I can still boldly say that EVERYTHING IS WORKING FOR MY GOOD.  If I can say it with all my heart, I’m sure every single prevailer can also say it too.
