Somehow, I started school after quite a while. Finished school without owing any institution, person nor government. How my school fees were paid all cash still baffles me. Money in tens of thousands of dollars.

How???

I came out with the highest GPA in my school. Another how??? Never a science student. The only pure Arts student in my house because of mathematics. I struggled through mathematics but never failed it then in Secondary school. So you can imagine when I started school in the States and I was the one teaching my fellow students pharmacology calculations. How Chinwe? And of course, I wrote an entrance exam before I was admitted into school and mathematics was part of it. My God does amazing great things, there is no one like him. God made me the best. The Director of the school always boasted in me and sighted me as example. He could not imagine how I was doing it, as everyone in school knew I am widowed with children, doing a full-time job and going to school full-time. That was part of the introductions we did when we first started. It is called ‘getting to know each other’.

School was 5 days a week, 8 hours every day in class/Clinical. Most times I came back from school by 6pm and would prepare to go to work by 7pm. I did a full-time night shift. How I survived it and still came out tops, is still a wonder to me. GOD OF AWESOME WONDERS! I maximized my time! As I was cooking, my books were with me. As I was taking my shower, I would have audiobooks playing. I did not have a life then. Kai..that campus Director was so so mean. He drained us! In one day, this man would make our preceptors give us over a hundred questions homework to submit with deadline the same day. And of course, exams were like every other week.

He is a German in his late 50s’ a trained medical doctor in his country of origin, extremely intelligent and never tolerated failure. But that was not an excuse for throwing students out of school till we were only 8 students remaining in our final quarter with no refund…a class that started with 32 students. Though some students dropped on their own because of the class workload. It was more than stressful!

Someone will ask: “what about the children?” “How did they cope?”

God bless my kiddos, God helped them! They all grew up at once, they over cooperated. Never a concern all through. The Holy Spirit taught them. During that time, they got the most academic awards, but I was never there in their school to cheer them on. They understood and always prayed for me. Every morning as I dropped them off at school they would always pray “God provide for our Mum, help her to be the best, bless her, give her big big money, give her strength” …the prayers went on and on”. Their prayers were all centered on me and that melted my heart the more and most times I cried. Sure God heard their prayers and more. Finally, I graduated, wrote my board exam and passed it at one sitting.

THIS GOD IS MY GOD..FOREVER HE WILL BE MY GOD !

I remembered when I just arrived the US, some people were so worried for me, they practically begged me to send my Mum together with my children back to Nigeria, that it was never going to be an easy road, I deeply appreciated all those words…and it made me who I am becoming!!!
